How to Set Up a VPN on Android
On Android, the easiest way to connect is through the app: sign in with your account, no manual config imports. Here’s how, step by step.
Option 1. The OzodVPN app (easiest)
- 1Install the OzodVPN app from Google Play.
- 2Open it. On first launch, access is set up automatically and signing in is optional.
- 3Tap the big connect button in the center of the screen.
- 4The first time you connect, Android will ask for permission to create a VPN connection. Allow it.
- 5Done: your traffic is encrypted and your real IP is hidden. The “Protected” status means everything is working.
Tip: to keep the connection from dropping in the background, turn on “Always-on VPN” in Android’s system settings. It keeps the tunnel active.
Option 2. A third-party client with a config
If you prefer a standalone client, Happ, Hiddify, v2rayNG or NekoBox all work. We provide a subscription link and a QR code: import takes one tap, and the client keeps the server list up to date on its own.
- 1Install a client (for example, Happ or Hiddify).
- 2In your OzodVPN account, open the configs section and copy the subscription link or scan the QR code.
- 3In the client, choose “Import from clipboard” or “Scan QR code”.
- 4Pick a server and tap “Connect”.
If it won’t connect
- Make sure your subscription is active (the app shows its status under the connect button).
- Allow the app to run in the background and turn off aggressive battery optimization for it.
- Reconnect or switch servers: the app picks the fastest one automatically.
For most people, the app is the simplest route. You can try it free for 3 days, no card required.
FAQ
Do I need root access?
No. VPNs on Android use the system’s built-in tools, so root isn’t required.
Why does the VPN disconnect when I minimize the app?
Battery optimization is usually the culprit. Allow the app to run in the background and turn on “Always-on VPN” in the system settings.
